Music adds quality to life as it promotes mental development and provides an outlet for emotional expression.Considering the intrinsic value of music, the primary purpose of music education is to contribute to the quality of life for all students by developing their capabilities to participate fully in a musical culture. This week, the first and second graders are learning musical scales. They explored the concept of scales as moving up and down stairs. The scales are made of 8 steps.
Our first lesson was focused on the first three steps: Do, Re and Me. Students were practicing how to connect the sound with the step. I am very proud to say that almost 100% of my students were able to distinguish the sounds.
At the end of the lesson, we all sang "Do Re Me" song from "The Sound of Music" Musical.
